THREE WALLPAPER MOMENTS THAT TRANSFORMED THIS HOME

Wallpaper has a unique ability to tell a story, adding depth, character, and personality in ways that paint alone simply cannot. In a recent project, we used three distinct wallpaper installations to create memorable moments throughout the home—each selected to complement the architecture, support the function of the space, and bring a sense of intentional design to everyday living. While the rooms had not yet been styled when these photos were taken, we thought you would appreciate a behind-the-scenes look!

A Welcoming First Impression: Linnea Mural in Misty Blue

The entryway sets the tone for the entire home, making it the perfect place for a statement installation. For this space, we selected the Linnea Mural in Misty Blue by Sandberg Wallpaper. Inspired by delicate botanical forms, the mural creates an immediate sense of calm and sophistication upon arrival.

The soft blue palette brings a gentle, airy quality to the entry while the oversized floral pattern adds movement and visual interest. Rather than overwhelming the space, the mural serves as an elegant backdrop that welcomes guests and establishes a refined yet approachable atmosphere from the moment they step inside. The space will be completed with a mirror, art, stool, and other decor.

Elevating the Everyday: Zen in White

Functional spaces deserve thoughtful design, too. Along the mudroom stairway, we installed Zen in White by Sandberg Wallpaper. This subtle pattern was chosen to bring texture and dimension to a hardworking area of the home without competing with surrounding finishes. The understated design introduces a quiet sense of rhythm and balance as you move through the space. By incorporating wallpaper in a transitional area, we transformed what could have been a purely utilitarian stairway into an intentional design feature that feels connected to the rest of the home. This space will be completed with hooks, a mirror, and local art.

A Touch of Drama: Serendipity Shibori in Taupe

The home's bar area called for something a bit moodier and more expressive. We selected A-Street Prints Serendipity Shibori Wallpaper in Taupe to create a sophisticated focal point perfect for entertaining.

The organic, hand-dyed appearance of the shibori-inspired pattern introduces movement and artistry, while the taupe colorway keeps the look grounded and timeless. (The shibori technique was of particiular interest to the client who had spent a few years living in Japan.) The result is a space that feels elevated and inviting—striking enough to draw attention, yet versatile enough to complement a variety of furnishings and finishes. The shelves will be styled with cookbooks, personal art, plants, bottles, and glassware.

The Power of Thoughtful Wallpaper Selection

Each wallpaper in this project serves a different purpose, but together they create a cohesive story throughout the home. From the welcoming botanical mural in the entryway to the subtle texture of the mudroom stairs and the dramatic character of the bar area, these selections demonstrate how wallpaper can define spaces, enhance architectural features, and add layers of personality that make a home feel truly unique.
